Patience is a Virtue

Monday, Matt and I will be celebrating our 2nd Anniversary. Well, since we're both working on Monday we decided to celebrate this weekend...starting tonight. So we decided to go to Texas Roadhouse since it'd been a while since I've been there and he's never been there. Things started off a little rocky though.

We arrived at the restaurant just after 6:40 and were told that the wait time was 35-45 minutes. We waited, all the while Matt was getting hungrier because he'd just ridden 10 miles home less than an hour earlier. Now when Matt gets hungry he gets grumpy, so you better get food in him quickly. I think that's the case with most men, but Matt's was compounded by the soreness in his legs. Thanks bike.

Anyhow, we waited and waited and noticed that other couples were being seated even though they'd arrived after us. We figured maybe they'd called in their reservation or had someone waiting inside for them. In any case, the 35 minutes came and went. And so did the 45 minutes. And then an hour....and 15 minutes after that. Matt finally went inside to ask them how long until our number would be called. The hostess indicated that she'd completely skipped over us, unintentionally of course, and that we'd be seated directly. Ten minutes later we were finally seated and I was upset, and Matt was famished...which equals beastly.

Our waitress did a really good job. We told her about our wait time and Matt let slip that it was our anniversary (good job, hun) and suddenly the manager is at our table asking us if there was anything that she could do. By this time fresh bread and an onion blossom the size of Matt's head had already arrived on the table. That, along with her apology, would have been sufficient for us. But then, I suppose, she must have expedited all of our food. There wasn't a single moment in which food was not being put on our table. And our waitress and the manager were both VERY attentive. We indicated that we would need boxes for our dinner and the waitress said she'd hoped we'd saved room because there was more for us. We hadn't saved room. We were full, completely stuffed. The next thing we know, the waitress comes back with boxes for our meals, and a HUGE brownie and ice cream. Then the manager came back with a bag of peanuts and coupons for us to use on our next visit.

They gave us probably $15 in free food in addition to a coupon for free food for our next visit. We're definitely going back. On the way home Matt was saying he should have gone in and asked as soon as the 45 minutes was up. I told him that we wouldn't have gotten the excellent service if we had. I told him this is why they say Patience is a Virtue. At least that's my opinion.
